On November 1, 2005 @ 1h30pm, we went searching for Eels at Tori Reef. Tom and Joyce Schulke had dove the site the previous day and had spotted what looked like a fineless Eel - Very rare and not reported on Bonaire before. During our 90 minutes dive that afternoon, we saw 6 Eels in the sand and JS took pictures with his macro len. When we looked at them the same night, Joyce identified them as Short Tail Eels again unreported Eel for Bonaire. In the shallows of Tori's reef and particulary in the afternoon it is definitely the place to be and watch the Eels in the sand. Joyce and Tom are still convinced that they may have seen another type of eel. Good hunting. Tips for photographers: With these Eels you basically have one shot up close. You should take pictures gradually until you get close to the subject. Once the subject is gone it won't resurface at the same spot. Very shy subject. Tori Reef shallows is an amazing place to find orange spotted goby with their schrimp - Dash goby - conch - slippery dick dancing and much much more.
